Chin Augmentation (Genioplasty)
The shape of our chin profoundly impacts how our face looks and the overall contours of the face.Chin augmentation is surgery to reshape or enhance the size of the chin. This procedure can be done by inserting an implant or moving or reshaping the jaw bones. Genioplasty can be both surgical and non-surgical. In non-surgical genioplasty, fat or fillers are used to achieve desired results.
Dr Guru Prasad Reddy offers chin implants to his patients wishing to change the shape of their chins. Not only for cosmetic reasons, but some may also wish to undergo chin implant surgery to correct a congenital disability or damage following an accident.
The doctor employs imaging modalities to determine what part of the chin to operate on. During the surgery, a cut is made, either inside the mouth or under the chin. A pocket is created in front of the chin bone and under the muscles, and an implant is placed inside.
The implant is attached to the bone with sutures or screws. Sutures are used to close the surgical cut. The scar can barely be seen when the cut is inside the mouth.
